Never forget. Two words Americans need to remember. Never forget. Never forget who gave us the freedoms we take advantage of every day. Never forget the thousands of lives lost in the fight for those freedoms. Never forget to say thank you. I can’t expect my generation to understand or cherish the freedoms for which our country stands, but I can only hope my generation has the decency to see a veteran, and say thank you. Thank you for your service. Thank you for fighting for our rights. I will never forget.
“And I’m proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men and women who died,
And gave that right to me”
People often forget what Memorial Day is really about. It is not about Drinking, BBQing, and time off work. It is about honoring and remembering the ones that paid the ultimate sacrifice. It is not the same as Veteran’s Day. It is a day Specifically for the ones that are no longer with us.
Take a moment of silence for these men and women today!
Today, we honor all of the fallen heroes who have paid the ultimate price in laying down their life for their country.
Their courage and sacrifice will be remembered for generations to come, and we, as a nation, will always be eternally grateful.
On this Memorial Day
Grant peace to the souls
of all those soldiers who died in war.
We remember the tears and grief of their families,
The pain of mothers, wives, husbands and children
Who lost precious loved ones.To build a meaningful memorial to them,
We ask God to give us all the will
To work for peace around the world
So no more sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, nor mothers
Are slaughtered by the guns and bombs of war.We ask Mary, who held the lifeless body of her son
And was pierced by the sorrow of his suffering and death,
To grant us the compassion and wisdom to affirm life
And honor the dead through forgiveness and peace making.May God have mercy on the souls of the departed.
Grant them peace, O Lord.May we have mercy on the living.
Grant us peace, O Lord.
In Your name we pray.Amen.
